The Best Way to Achieve Your Goals Is to Challenge Yourself
Just a few weeks into a new year, many people are focused on changes and goals they want for themselves in the next 12 months. In order to achieve your goals, you must step outside your comfort zone. That may mean waking up at 5 am to exercise, instead of sleeping until 7 a.m. like you are used to, if your goal is to get healthy. Maybe you are bored with your everyday existence in the world—you want to try new things but are afraid or have become complacent where you are, whether with work, friends, family, or relationships.
The Huffington Post article “6 Reasons to Step Outside Your Comfort Zone” lists six great reasons you should step out of your comfort zone and how that can benefit you. My favorite reason is “Challenging yourself can help you perform at your peak.” While I was in school I practiced this quite often and not always in a good way (for the record: yes, you can write a good 30-page paper complete with references, in APA style, on the fundamentals of financial analysis in today’s global market … in two days). Challenge accepted and goal met!
Whatever your future goals may be, just know that you will have to step outside your comfort zone to achieve them.
